I was born in New York, but grew up in California. I received my BSN at San Jose State University and have been an ICU Nurse for 28 years. I began studying drawing and painting at Gavilan College when my youngest child started school. I am a member of Valle Del Sur in Morgan Hill and Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society and exhibit locally at various venues including:
• Silicon Valley Open Studios
• Gallery Morgan Hill
• Gilroy Art Shows
• Coffee Houses
• Local Wineries/Art and Wine Shows
• AVArt Fest

Artist Statement:
I love that "things" can be metaphors for deeper truths and that idea drives much of my work. I am intrigued by form, line and pattern found in nature and of the story they tell. Not the obvious one that defines an object, but the narrative that portrays the intangible, the veiled, the mysterious. For example, four of the pieces I am currently showing (Sumbioun II, III, IV and V) were inspired by Lichen growing on rock that caught my attention on a recent trip to New Mexico. Lichen is made up of algae and fungus living together in a symbiotic relationship. Both depend on the other and together they can survive even the harshest of environments. (Sumbioun is the Greek root word for symbiosis and literally means "living together".) Over time and the biological process there occurs a breaking down of the rock surface creating more soil in which new plant life can grow and leaving an etched design in the rock. What a beautiful image as our world emerges into a global community.
I see the universality of these and all natural designs as a convergence of the physical world and the spiritual; where the physical world provides a window into wisdom, understanding, and the evidence of God. I use abstraction to remove recognition and the predictability of what I already know so I might discover the unexpected.
