Fine art photographer, Susan Dillon acquired an interest in the media during the 1970s when her sister returned from Japan with an SLR camera photographing her children. Working in the darkroom and developing black and white prints Susan developed an appreciation of the creative process. She was inspired by the work of Imogene Cunningham. Susan's goal was to capture the innocence and energy of the young. Over time her focus shifted to nature and eventually architecture with its angles lines and texture. Susan is not limited in her subject matter.
Susan has studied photography through classes, workshops, and field experience. One is always learning and hopefully improving their skills in design, composition, perspective and light. Her photographs present a new look at our surroundings and over the years have recorded our everchanging fragile environment. Travels beyond our borders have brought glimpses of life and landscapes in places such as Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Over the years Susan's photographs have won numerous awards in juried shows and are held in many private collections. Susan's most recent award was a blue ribbon, Award of Excellence for "Yangtze Boatman" at the Mountain View, AVArtfest, 2009.
