Julia Munger Seelos, AIS
Award winning San Francisco Bay area artist, Julia Munger Seelos, studied Fine Art at Rhode Island School of Design, Industrial Design at the University of Cincinnati and Illustration at San Jose State University. After an international career in retail design, Julia has devoted herself to painting and teaching full-time. Julia hosts workshops and demos encouraging others to share in the joy of painting outdoors.
Julia paints outdoors, en plein air, to capture the beauty of the place with spontaneous brush strokes and vivid color. With her sure hand in composition and her drawing skills, she takes the viewer to those special places in nature that capture her spirit. Julia’s award winning paintings, have been selected for numerous national exhibitions including; nine American Impressionist National Shows, the Best of LAPAPA, California Art Club shows in Pasadena and Oakland, MBPAPA’s Museum Exhibits, Triton Art Museum, the Steinbeck Museum, Napa Valley Museum Plein Air Biennial, Central Coast National Fine Arts Competitions, Filoli Plein Air Exhibitions, Pacific Art League Shows and the Napa Valley Art Festival. Her numerous awards include First Place for oils in the 79th Santa Cruz Statewide Landscape Show by juror, Jean Stern, executive director of The Irvine Museum and recognition by George Rivera in the Los Altos Plein Air 2007.
Julia is regularly invited to participate in many of the west’s most prestigious plein air events including; San Luis Obispo Plein Air, Carmel Art Festival, Estes Park Colorado-Paint the Parks, Borrego Springs Plein Air, Alameda Jewel-by-the-Bay, Paso Robles Art Festival, Santa Cruz Plein Air Affaire, Big Sur, Outdoor Painters at Canyon de Chelly and the Russian River Plein Air.
